28 – Blackbeard the pirate!

March 27, 2017

In just a year as captain of his own fleet of pirates, Blackbeard made one hell of a name for himself. A name that’s lasted to this day. Pistols, cutlasses, looting, plundering – even the lawless Buccaneer island of Tortuga and pirate city of Nassau explored on this swashbuckling edition of Timesuck!

    Hey Dan,

Haven’t listened to the whole episode yet, but the part where you talk about spooking your son:

Did you know about the story of how Disney originally used real human remains for some of the decorative skeletons throughout the ride? Figure that’s something you might find interesting to dig into a little bit.

Keep up the great work, man do I love my weekly Suck!

    1. admin says:

Haha. Thanks Mickie. That’s crazy about the real skeletons. I bet Disney has a lot of weird stuff in its past.

      1. Mickie says:

Between the underground city, secret club rooms/buildings, and a few abandoned parks, I feel like there’s a possible TimeSuck there too. Can’t wait for the next, Dan!

Bravo Dread pirate Dan. Excellent work on such a hard topic to research as it sounded by the jumbled dates and all the folklore that surrounds Blackbeard. My ears are aching for this Friday for some more awesome timesucking.

    1. admin says:

Haha. Thanks Jason! Yeah – had to sort through a lot of shit on that one. Think I cut through most of the myth to get to the man though.

  5. Mike says:
